What is the difference between sub-base and road base?
Sub-base sits on the formation and provides drainage and support. Road base is the stronger granular layer above it that carries loads under asphalt, concrete or heavy interlock. Both need correct compaction.
Do you provide sub-base for interlock installation?
Yes. Interlock fails quickly on a weak sub-base. We prepare and compact the sub-base (and bedding) as part of our interlock packages.
What compaction do you achieve?
Typically 95%+ of maximum dry density for sub-grade/sub-base as per project or RTA requirements, verified with nuclear density gauge testing when specified.
